About Conversations
Did you know that flowers can speak? This piece was made in 2024 and they've been having Conversations since.
In 2024, I started a new series of paintings called the “SKARES” Collection.
Drawn on a notebook with square size paper. Each painting comes with a poem. In most cases, the painting inspired the written words. This has been a way of translating my abstract works into ideas people can understand or relate to.
Around that time I decided to challenge myself and paint faces, in the most literal sense. So as a part of experimentation I drew faces inside my flowers. It gave this feeling that now the flowers have personalities, they are talking, they are gossiping.
We don’t really know what they might be talking about of course, but by the looks of it: one is concerned on the top left. And one is slightly judging about what is being said on the bottom right corner. The others are engaged but unbothered. Is this what happens when we are having conversations?
People do bring their own opinions, there are disagreements, they are common grounds. Some thrive in confrontations, others try to avoid it at all costs.
Intentionally, I tried to humanify the flowers even more by giving them different hair styles. Interpret as you wish. They are all flowers. Regardless of their appearance differences they are still making an effort to conversate, communicate and connect with each other.
After many tries to put colour on these flowers, I never found a colour combination that spoke to me. This is why I decided to leave it black and white. It is up to you to decide how these flowers look, what colour is their hair, what colour are their lips and what are they discussing about.
If you ask them a question, they won’t give you the answer,
They’ll give you a mirror.
Because flowers don’t tell you what to do.
They remind you who you’re becoming.
And maybe that’s the conversation we are missing:
The one where the world doesn’t demand,
Doesn’t judge, doesn’t rush,
It simply opens,
And invites you to open too.
